Little utility for player vehicles. Its intended to provide a drag parachute for those vehicles that should have that feature (Dragsters and similar). Specially Add-On vehicle oriented, but vanilla vehicles can make use of it too.
Features
- Parachute can freely rotate
- The force stopping the vehicle comes from the parachute itself, allowing for greater realism
- Requires Brake upgrades to be available (optional)
- Works out of the box for some example vehicles
- You can add more vehicles easily
How to install
Extract the files and folders into /Grand Theft Auto V/Scripts.
The "DragParachutes" folder location should look like "Grand Theft Auto V/Scripts/DragParachutes/(.ini files)"
Vehicles supported by default
- Rocket Voltic
- Picador Loco Drag (Vanillaworks Extended)
- Nightshade Dragster
Adding new vehicles to the system
Go to /(GTA V Folder)/Scripts/DragParachutes/. You'll find a few files named after the models they include in the system.
Just make a copy of any of them and edit it so it includes the vehicle you want. Save the file and fire up the game.
Vehicle developers - adding your vehicle to the system
While you do not have permission to include this script in your download (ask me first), you can include your VehicleFile.ini and redirect players to this mod if you want your vehicle to benefit from this drag chute system.
They have to install this script and move your config files to /(GTA V Folder)/Scripts/DragParachutes/(.ini files). Drag Parachutes will pick it up and do the rest.
REQUIREMENTS
.NET Framework 4.5.2
Visual C++ 2015
ScriptHookV v1.0.463.1

@SLY95ZER What makes you feel so? Legit question.
@SLY95ZER i can assure you it doesn't, i use it for my typhoon fighter jet
Surprised it doesn't use up any FPS at all actually game runs smoothly when I used it
@SLY95ZER This script only processes a single entity (the parachute) and does only one thing (apply forces) continually, so I can't for the life of me understand why would you think it could drain FPS. I would understand if it enabled the same behavior for multiple vehicles simultaneously, but otherwise, its just not possible. It'd have to employ real shitty practices for it to tank FPS for a task so simple.
While I take no offense, I advise you against judging a script so casually before actually trying it out. You could miss very cool stuff with that attitude.
This is FUN
@Eddlm I wasn't being rude I was merely asking a question if the script affected fps as others have that attempted to do the same thing
Awesome work as usual!😃
So you finally made my idea into reality... ;)
Amazing Script! Super useful for all of my supersonic jets.
Great script, hope controller support gets added soon.
Hello, I would like to know if you would be willing to help me in editing a mod, it is practically complete, but I am new to creating mods and need help to finish it. Thank you very much in advance.
@Hullieverson PM me with the details, but I cannot guarantee I can help. No free time.
DAMN THIS IS AWESOME!
@Eddlm good the project is practically ready, however it only needs to correct some errors to compile the file and I'm starting to edit mods soon. would there be some way for me to send you the project to take a look?
basing this comment off the video I think the chute should have customizable drag settings because it seems to slow down way too fast for what it is. I mean look at a video of a Space Shuttle landing and see if you can base off of that maybe?
@Derpy-Canadian Oh, they're customizable for sure. Download and check the .ini files, you can define how much drag (actually backwards force) is applied.
My values may likely be a little off yeah, but it felt right for the arcade feel of the game.
@Eddlm im sorry for not replying this mod but can you update street racing mod becuz im really love this mod...
The Tupolev Tu-144 had parachutes for its braking system. This mod would work amazingly with the Soviet SST.
how to use this type of parachute on a character
I wish there was a parachute like this for the player, so when you use your parachute your character would just float down like parachutes the Army uses.
