I've always found R*'s tattoos for Trevor to be disappointing. Trevor is such an amazing opportunity to give him a really unique flair in terms of tattoos. Yet... all of his tattoos are just crass, bordering on garbage.
Trevor is a bit of a hipster... he has to stick out.
I've tried to reimagine Trevor as a bit of an insane genius. Somewhat of an artist, mad, carefree and a bit careless. One way to express that is that with fully colored tattoos - which it baffles me why there are no color tattoos at all in single player.
For the composition I have tried to make Trevor's right arm largely blue-ish to purple with several splotches to break away from that design. On Trevor's left arm I have tried to create a warm hue of yellow, oranges and reds with the occasional green to liven it up. Green is also the central color of the chest. On Trevor's back I've focused on a myriad of colors, mainly because the surface area is obviously much more forgiving to wild color usage.
As for the themes of the tattoos, I have gone with mostly Mexican and Native American (Amerindian) designs. Trevor hates his Canadian heritage, but he's very much 'American' in the broad sense. So I wanted to give him something related to the Americas in a bit of a round about way. Plus, it allows some great Mexican art to be on display, which is, obviously, also very, very colorful. It's a match made in Heaven.
