This is an audio modification for GTA V that focuses specifically on enhancing rain sounds. It replaces the default loud and repetitive vanilla rain audio with a calmer, more immersive experience. The mod uses a refined sound profile that emphasizes 3D audio, creating a dynamic and realistic atmosphere, much like stereo sound.
Whether you’re driving through the rain-soaked streets, walking in the storm, or simply enjoying the ambiance, this mod transforms the rain sounds into something more natural and soothing, perfect for players looking for a polished and immersive environment.
HOW TO INSTALL
As of now, the mod is available for manual installation only. Follow these steps to get it set up:
Download the Mod
First, download the mod file and extract it to a location of your choice.
Locate the Manual Install Folder
Inside the extracted folder, you’ll find a subfolder named Manual Install. Open it, and you’ll see a file named weather.oac.
Open OpenIV
Launch OpenIV and ensure you have edit mode enabled.
Navigate to the Resident Folder
In OpenIV, go to the following directory:
mods/x64/audio/sfx/resident.rpf
Import the weather.oac File
Click the New button (located in the top-left corner of OpenIV) and select Import OpenFormats (.oac).
Navigate to the location where you extracted the mod, select weather.oac, and import it.
Save and Close
Once the import is complete, save your changes and close OpenIV.
That’s it! You’re all set to enjoy the enhanced rain sounds in GTA V.

I was always avoiding rainy weather because of this exact problem of the sounds being too loud and stressful. That's a very nice mod, great job !

Hello, do you know how to eliminate wind noise?
@tee4ee it should already be gone
@Snoopyyy I was doing some research, in the storm the wind sound is very loud, I muted directly the weather.awc file but the wind still continues. You can test it yourself by renaming (weather.bak and ambience.bak) this will mute all sounds and try in different weathers inside the game you will see that the sound still continues, I don't know where the wind audio is.
